A veteran of more than seven years working with students in alternative settings, Melissa is an integral part of our clinically proven team of therapists.
Melissa received her Masters Degree in Social Work from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a specialization in child and adolescent health/mental health and behavior issues. Prior to joining Trails, she served as coordinator and head teacher for the Clemson Youth Institute, an alternative school for 12 to 17-year-old students, after which she joined a therapeutic wilderness program as a Wilderness Field Instructor. Melissa's background also includes tenures as case manager with the Family Preservation Services, a community mental health facility where she worked specifically with adolescents ages 5 to 17, as well as Helpmate Inc., a program devoted to providing counseling to victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
Melissa is an avid outdoorsman, where she enjoys spending time with her husband, Nick and two children.
