Brian has been an educator for several years,
running the gamut from outdoor experiential
education to a conventional high school
classroom.

Brian is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a degree in secondary education. He is a certified 6-12 teacher for pre-adolescents and adolescents. Brian's goal is to provide an experiential classroom environment that rejuvenates students' appreciation for education, renews students' confidence in their ability to learn, and prepares them to reenter their 'real world' school classroom as functional and critical learners.

Brian is motivated by the ideal that education should be interactive, student-driven, and experiential, while grounding himself in the reality that most students at TRAILS will graduate from an institution in which classrooms are sedentary, teacher-centric, and abstract. He shapes the TRAILS curriculum with these extremes in mind, attempting to bridge the gap: he aims to provide students with inquiry-based, experiential education while preparing them to find success in more traditional classrooms.
